I knew Ed since 7th grade and that summer when we both played for the Penfield Colts. We became good friends after he returned from Vietnam and I graduated from Susquehanna University. We were both "deadheads" e.g. fans of the Grateful Dead, and we spent many an evening at his apartment in West Philly smoking and listening to music while we talked about his time in Nam. One particular story, I found moving when he watched a firefight going on a mile away on a hill. Later, he found out one of our Haverford classmates was severely wounded when they met at a reunion. R.I.P., "buddy. Walk alone by the black muddy river,, and sing  me a song of my own"

Ed was a veteran and his profile should reflect that fact with a flag.
