JOHN AMBER

 

JOHN AMBER, of Exton PA (formerly West Chester), died courageously, early morning Dec. 11, 2011, from metastatic prostate cancer. He is the loving son of John Samuel Amber and Louise Joyce Amber; the loving, devoted husband of Betsy Snook Amber and the loving, devoted father of John Lee Amber.
Born May 3, 1947 in Philadel-phia, he spent his childhood in Scituate MA, Meriden CT and Upper Darby PA with summer visits to Stone Harbor NJ. He attended Haverford High School and earned a BS in Physical Education and MA in Guidance and Counseling from Highlands University in New Mexico. John was an elementary school teacher, tanker truck trans-porter and prior to retiring, he worked with special needs children. He enjoyed athletics and maintained physical fitness throughout his life. He was well versed in US history and enjoyed political debate. He had a passion for wildlife and nature and loved being out-doors. He enjoyed jazz and classical music, cinema and art. He wrote poetry and created children's stories. He enjoyed drawing and photographing nature and sail boating.
John is survived by his mother, Louise (Chelsea VT); wife, Betsy (Exton PA); son, John Lee (Slatington PA); sister, Joyce Amber Messick (Drexel Hill); sister, Susan Amber Oliver (Stanwood WA); sister, Trudy Amber Dowlin (Chelsea VT), brother, Paul Amber (Lake Nebagamon WI); brother, Peter Amber (Chelsea VT); brother, Jim Amber (Chelsea VT) and Cats: Greysun, Joey, Piwacket and Cleesun. A private burial will be held in Chelsea, Vermont. In John's memory, donations may be sent to Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine PCRM.org
